MOUNTAIN PASS
Read Psalm 91

"You will not have to worry about sudden disasters, such as come on the wicked like a storm..” Proverbs 3:25 GNB

It was late at night and there was no moon. The country road was quiet. I was a woman alone. Up ahead, my home and husband waited for me, but first I had to cross a mountain using the steep Sir Lowry’s Pass, sometimes referred to as “The Road of Death”. I often traveled this road in the daytime, and I knew that on either side of my car lay barren scrub-land with no buildings or sign of life. For a moment I felt a tremor. What if I broke down?

The car headlights shone out, cutting a clear path through the darkness, illuminating the road ahead. I couldn’t see the other side of the mountain. I couldn’t even see the mountain! All that was visible was a short stretch of road ahead. I realized all I had to do was keep driving along the section of road shown by my headlights. I didn’t need to worry about dangers out of view. If I followed the road within my vision, I would arrive home.

How often we get distracted, worrying about “What if,” when all we need to do is keep traveling along the road the Lord shows us.

PRAYER: Father, thank you that you show us all we need to know. Please help us to keep within the parameters you have set for our protection. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God will show me the way through all today’s challenges

PRAYER FOCUS: For drivers.
