ENLARGE MY TERRITORY?

Read Jeremiah 32:17 - 20

"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory!" Jeremiah 4 : 10 (N.K.J.V.)

"You have to be joking!" That was my response to the challenge issued by my on-line Writers' Group to apply for a scholarship for a Christian Writers' Conference in the United States of America. I couldn't afford to fly from my home in Cape Town, South Africa to Johannesburg, two hours away, to visit my sons. Fly to America? No way!

As I led a group through a study on 'The Prayer of Jabez' I prayed the words from First Chronicles each day. "Lord, bless me, and enlarge my territory". Each day I deleted all emails mentioning conferences. One day I sensed the Lord say to me, "Make up your mind! Do you want me to enlarge your territory or not?"

In September 2004, I set out on the adventure of my lifetime. You can read about it by clicking on the button "Sandy Cove". My circumstances had not changed. I still couldn't afford to fly to Johannesburg, but I had a ticket to America, half way across the world. God heard my prayer, and expanded my territory.

I wonder how often I have talked myself out of some blessing, because I decided that God was not able to do it.

Jer 32:17-20 (GNB)

"Sovereign Lord, You made the earth and the sky by your great power and might; nothing is too difficult for you. Thank You that I can call you my Lord and my Saviour. Thank You that you still perform miracles today. Increase my faith, Lord.

Amen
